Did you know you can actually turn your receipts into cash and gift cards?
It's true!
In today's episode, I'll share my top 3 apps that will help you make money from your receipts. You can find download links for each app mentioned below.
Check out my full post, How To Make Money From Your Receipts, for more apps you can use.
Resources Mentioned
Fetch Rewards - By far the easiest app to use and one of the fastest ways to get started. Simply snap a picture of your receipt and earn points you can redeem for gift cards.
Ibotta - Buy sponsored products to earn cash back on your favorite brands. You can also earn rebates by shopping through the app or using Ibotta's browser extension.
NCP Mobile - Instead of scanning your receipt, with this app you'll scan your product barcodes. It's a bit more effort, but if you do it as you unpack your groceries you can quickly earn points you can redeem for gift cards.

So what do you do with your receipts? If you're like most people, you probably just throw your receipts away. If you even get your receipts. I know at some grocery stores, you just probably leave them behind. I've found those. If you see one, grab it because you can actually get money for your receipts.
That's what we're going to talk about in today's episode - how to make money off of your receipts.
Welcome to the Go From Broke podcast, where you'll learn how to take control of your money so you can stress less and save more. If you're tired of of living paycheck to paycheck or constantly wondering where your money's going, you're in the right place. This podcast is about giving you actionable tips and advice so you can get started improving your finances today. Today we're going to be talking about how to make money on your receipts.
If you've been throwing your receipts away, you've literally been throwing money in the trash. There are several apps out there that will actually pay you to scan your receipts. Yes, that's right, pay you to take a picture of your receipt. It's really that easy.
Now not all apps are that easy. Some have more requirements than others, but in general, you can make money off of your receipts with very little effort. So if you've been throwing them away, let me tell you what you should be doing is not throwing them away yet. You'll still throw them away eventually. Just not yet.In today's episode, I'm going to be going over a few of my favorite receipt scanning apps.
The first one - my absolute favorite because it's the absolute easiest - is Fetch Rewards. You literally just open the app, tap a button on the screen and take a picture of your receipt and that's it. No scanning barcodes, no matching product offers. You just take the picture. If it's got products on it that they recognize and that they're partnered with you'll make some extra money or some extra points I guess.
Fetch is a little bit different than some others. They don't do cash back. They do gift cards, so you get reward points that you can redeem for gift cards. The other good thing is that you don't actually have to have that many points to redeem your gift cards. A lot of places have a $10 limit or so, but with Fetch, I think it's $3, so you need 3000 points. But you can get 2000 points just for signing up. So Fetch Rewards - number one best receipt scanning app.
My second favorite app would be Ibotta. ibotta is a little bit harder to earn with than Fetch because you do have to match products, but they do have a lot of specials that they run every month, sometimes weekly, monthly, whatever. As long as you're redeeming just a couple of products here or there, you can earn bonus points that help you earn more with Ibotta.Besides the product matching, you also sometimes have to scan bar codes, which can be really annoying, but Ibotta has its own sort of perks as well. Not only can you earn from your receipt, you can also earn shopping through the app. And also they have a browser extension you can use. So when you shop online, you can earn cash back that way. That is the one big benefit of Ibotta to me is that it's actual cash back. I think you can redeem it for gift cards, but you can also get a cash deposit sent to your PayPal or bank account, which is awesome.
Moving on to my third favorite, it's called NCP Mobile. It stands for National Consumer Panel and this one does take a lot more work, but I've found that the payouts are actually better.
This is one of those where they're actually trying to get an idea of what people buy. I don't think there's any partnership like there is with the others, where they give you incentives to buy certain products or coupons. They just want to know what you're buying. And so they incentivize you to tell them by giving you points. It is a little bit of effort, but they pay out pretty quickly. It's pretty quick to, I shouldn't say their payout is quick. It is. But earning enough to pay out is quick.
They're one that you have to earn at least $10 with, or 10,000 points in their case. But it's not that difficult to get to. And that's why I like them because you earn pretty quickly when you actually do the scanning. But they also offer surveys that you can earn quickly with as well.
So the process with NCP is you actually scan everything you buy or tell them about it in the app, like some things that don't have a barcode they still want you to tell them about. Then you let them know how much everything costs as you go along. So you scan it, you tell them the price, how many of them you bought. And then at the very end, they want to know what your total spending was, and they ask a few other questions. Nothing too crazy.
And then that's it. So you just scan everything and submit it, basically. So they know what you're buying and then you get -- I don't know how many points you get -- 300 points per receipt I think. But that changes. They have different tiers and depending on what tier you're on, you'll earn more points. The more you scan, the higher your tier goes. And like I said, you can also do those surveys that help you build your points up fast so that you can get rewards quicker.
So yeah, there it is. My three favorite apps to earn money off of your receipts, Fetch Rewards, number one by far, Ibotta, and then NCP Mobile.
So your task today is to pick one of these receipt scanning apps. There's tons of them out there. If you want to learn about some other apps, you can go to a blog post I wrote describing several different apps at https://gofrombroke.com/scanreceipts.
I would suggest downloading all the apps honestly and see which ones are easiest for you. Because the whole point is to download something that you'll actually use because then you can make the limits to get the rewards faster.
So, action task. Go check out that post. https://gofrombroke.com/scanreceipts. Go download an app and start scanning your receipts. And then hit me up on Instagram and let me know how it's going. How much did you save? I would love to know. And don't forget to hit subscribe so you never miss another episode.
Make it a great day.
